About Us
The idea for Rayburn RV Hideout started many years ago by an individual who by himself, or with his family was tired staying at cramped campgrounds with marginal facilities . He had a dream of a campground that was not too large, nor too small, that had wide sites, with natural trees for shade and a place to shower that you would not be afraid to step into. Rayburn RV Hideout was born.
The layout of Rayburn RV Hideout allows you at most sites to park your boat or jet skis, your RV, and your vehicles and still have room to walk around your site. Each site was designed to take advantage of the shade provided by the oaks and pine trees giving you something that a lot of RV parks don't offer, escape from the summer Texas sun. Because of this design, each site is unique and individual.
For your camping convenience each of our sites is a full hook up site. You get electric, water, sewer, and a garbage can at each site. Sorry, we don't offer any Cable TV as there is none in the area. Also for your camping convenience each of our sites is equipped with a picnic table that you can move to accommodate your needs, and a fire ring which we ask you not to move as it has been placed away from underground utilities. You won't have to worry about standing in dirt or mud as each of our sites are graveled, not just where you park but also where you can enjoy the beautiful outdoors under your awning.
For those guests who need to stay connected while they are camping, we offer complimentary WiFi to our guests. We have several access points located in the park so you won't have a problem connecting at your site.
When your ready to clean up you have a choice, your RV or our climate controlled bathhouse. We don't keep it ice cold in the summer, or burning hot in the winter, we keep it comfortable so your not sweating as soon as your done with your shower, or worried about catching cold as soon as you turn off the hot water. Our bathhouse has two showers on each side, as well as double sinks and a vanity table for the ladies, and a magazine table for the men.
Our park is surrounded on three sides by US Army Corps of Engineer land, and FM-1007 on the fourth side. We have a small buffer zone of trees between the park and FM-1007 and being surrounded on the other three sides by the Corps of Engineers means that we will always have a buffer zone of trees on those sides.
We are located close to several boat ramps (the closest about three miles away) and while you can not see the lake from the park, it is a short 4/10 of a mile walk through the woods on Corps of Engineers land. This distance helps muffles the sounds of the lake, jet skis, boats and other water activities.
On September 24, 2005 after making landfall in Sabine Pass, Texas, Hurricane Rita headed north and right over our park. We ended up being closed for just over a week and you can see some pictures and read the story on our Hurricane Rita page.
On September 13, 2008 Hurricane Ike made landfall at Galveston, Texas and continued north. While Ike pasted to our west, we were on the "dirty side" of the Hurricane and felt a little of Ike's fury. We ended up being closed for about 4 days and you can see some pictures and read the story on our Hurricane Ike page.
We hope we don't have to add another Hurricane page to our website!
At 22 sites, our park is not one that you get lost in when walking around. We have been asked many times why we don't expand our park and we feel that a smaller park with its hometown atmosphere, sites with room and shade are more important than quantity. After all, anyone can build a large park with small sites, no natural beauty and where your just a number. At Rayburn RV Hideout, we want to know you by name, and we want you to come back on your next trip to Lake Sam Rayburn.
We invite you to take a tour of our park through our website. We are happy to show you pictures of each site, not just a chosen few that have been dressed up for the picture. We invite you to visit our park, and we hope that your first impression is, wow, this is better than the pictures on the website!
If we can answer any questions, please let us know and we hope that you give us a try when your staying in the Lake Sam Rayburn area!
