Lake Sam Rayburn is considered as one of the top ten bass fishing
lakes in the United States. Several national as well as many
regional and local fishing tournaments are hosted on the lake each
year. Tournaments may launch from several different areas or ramps
around the lake. Many of the tournaments use the Umphrey Family
Pavilion, which is located on the Southeast corner of the lake on
R-255 next to the "public boat ramp". Rayburn RV Hideout is located
about 3 miles from the public ramp and Pavilion. This makes us a
great place to go camping while fishing for fun, for a tournament or
just enjoying Lake Sam Rayburn. Our shaded campsites are roomy
enough for your camping equipment, boat and vehicle. We generally
offer late check out to tournament participants on tournament days.
Tournament weigh-ins are open to the public and offer a chance to
see professional anglers at their best.
Several stores in the Piney Point area located between Rayburn RV
Hideout and the Pavilion offer fishing licenses, bait, tackle,
hot food and fuel.
Texas fishing and boating regulations are available at
Texas Park and Wildlife Fish/Boat Texas to answer any questions
you may have concerning regulations. Licenses can be purchased
online or at one of many retailers who sell licenses. Be sure to
check the date on your license as most Texas Fishing Licenses expire
on August 31 of each year. Day fishing licenses are available for
all residents and non-residents. Armed Service members and their
families on active duty are considered Texas Residents for license
purpose.
